Assignment Title: Who's Your Patty - Consumer
acceptance and sensory properties of burger patties made with different types
of meat or plant-based products.
What I learned: I learned many things by doing this term project, including team work, reliability, research and publication steps. My group took many steps in order to perfect our project. First we gave out surveys to the students on campus and did data analysis on it to determine what they wanted changed in the school foods. We found that most people consumed hamburgers, and most people would prefer healthier options in the cafeteria. From this information we created three different alternatives to the "full fat" hamburger patty in which we did consumer acceptance testing with this product. We then created a presentation along with a 7 page term paper.
Reflection to assignment: This was a semester long project in which involved four of us all together. Working with three people for a semester long project took a lot of team work and communication.
Relevance to the profession: Being an
undergraduate and having a published piece is a big accomplishment. Many
professionals have to publish pieces, and being able to have one done already I
understand the work and the whole process that it takes in order to get a piece
published. Working in teams is an important part of many professions, by doing
this publication with a group of people shows that I am very competent in group
work.
