What I learned: This was my second in-service that I created. In this assignment I learned how to create an in-service for employees and/or coworkers. It is important to gain audience interaction and have them involved in these presentations because it keeps their attention and helps for them to remember the presentation.  In order to keep the audience interaction going pictures, activities and questions throughout the presentation are helpful. Being able to provide and in-service to employees and coworkers can help keep the employees focused and give them a sense of importance while promoting constant learning. 


Reflection to assignment: This assignment made me realize that it takes numerous components to put together a seemingly easy presentation.  However, if the presentation does not have relevant information to the audience or does not use any strategies to grasp their attention, it will fall apart quickly. 

 

Relevance to the profession: Being able to create effective in-service presentation is valuable to any nutrition related field.  Every time I practice presenting in front of a group of people, I improve my confidence and ability.

 

Reflection to assignment: This assignment helped me realize the empowerment that an in-service gives staff members. Even thought presntations make me nervous, by practicing I am becoming more comfortable and feel more prepared to deliver presentations in the future.

Assignment Title: In Service: Food Allergies vs. Food Intolerance

 

What I learned: In this assignment I had my first attempt at creating an in-service.  I learned that a large amount of research goes into the project, but only some is used in the presentation for purposes of flow and audience interest. 

 

Reflection to assignment:  This assignment gave me a glimpse of how to create an in-service to faculty members and coworkers. It allowed for me to present information and try to grasp audience attention.
